Rep Power: 0 ![]() | How many out there remember seeing someone for the first time as a pre teen and thinking to yourself "Wow! they are so pretty/handsome." I can remember writing the names of crushes in my notebook as I couldn't wait for lunch so that I might catch a glimpse of my latest crush. The funny thing at that age was that you couldn't tell your friends, especially being a guy because they would do one of two things: 1. Tell her you liked her (that would be the end of the world! ha ha)2. Make fun of you in the process of telling her. A fate worse than death is having her find out and not only getting a negative response from her, but a good razzing from your friends. OUCH! I remember the days of "passing notes". This of course developed from probably sixth grade on to high school but it was a clever scheme indeed. What we ended up doing was create a note that usually had something like the dreaded "Do you like <fill in the blank> and then put two check boxes in it. Yes....or No.... Even funnier, you would ask a friend to pass a note to your secret crush on your behalf. When the note was passed back to them ...they would pass the note onto you. Amazing what little spys we were. I can remember the days of running away from a crush as she approached to avoid detection. Can you believe that boys would actually harass the girl they liked the most? Trust me, it wasn't on purpose. Young guys are simply stupid and don't know any better. I can say this from experinence and I mean no harm that statement. I can remember such things as pulling someone's hair (not hard but in a playful, annoying the snot out of you way), the silly rhymes we made up as we prayed we were not detected staring at your crush ( Dave and Michelle..sitting in a tree...k-i-s-s-i-n-g. ) If you don't know the familar childrens tune...you're not missing a thing. I can remember wanting to sit by my crush at lunch but was deterred by my friends wonder "Hey....where are you going. We're right over here!" I remember the days of getting kissed on the cheek and WHAT A HUGE deal it was. I would of course make all the normal "Eww gross!" statements because at a young age, I found that the girls would typically kiss me again despite my pleading for mercy. HA HA ![]() Sadly, at the age of 10, I can remember my first feeling of jealousy. My secret crush was giving me lots of attention ....then Chris began getting my attention from her. I knew why they called it a crush cause that is what I felt like. I mean come on....who do you tell at age ten that your heart hurts cause Chris is getting your secret crush's attention. Yeowch! ![]() I can remember taking almost 10 minutes on my hair alone using a product called "Dippidy Do"..or even worse hair mousse. If you have never experienced hair mousse, image a foamed hair gel that had NO HOLD whatsoever. This was before the days of the 80's hair gel and aqua-net hair spray. Aqua-Net could hold your hair in place for days. Even in Chicago wind storms...your hair would be a perfectly styled HELMET! IN retrospect, it would take ONE HOT SHOWER to get that stuff outta there ONLY to put it right back on the next day. Ahhh, those were the days. I remember getting older and "cuffing" my pants. I had to follow the stylish kids because I was fashion retarded. I had a good friend that was female come up to me and say "Hey Dave, do you want me to fix you pants?"..of course I was mortified, I thought I had busted a seam. She proceeded to turn the bottom of my pants upward and tucking them neatly within themselves. This look was of course followed by "penny loafer" shoes. They got their name because you could stick a penny in the tongue of the shoes. I can remember attracting EVER BUG IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD because a 7th grader cannot smell the over STENCH of POLO cologne that his big brother received as a gift for his birthday and chicks dug him pretty well. Needless to say, I was a cuffed, penny loafered over cologned little guy that was looking for love. HA HA Anyone rememeber going to the mall on a friday or saturday night? I used to do this with my brother and some neighborhood kids. This would usually be the same thing EVERY TIME WE WENT! Here how it went: We would get all dressed up in our best jeaned outfit, nice shirts, 20 min. hair-dos..and POLO cologne. We might spare the Polo if we knew the fragrance department had free samples. I mean a guys gotta have variety right? We would end up walking the mall and stopping in the arcade as we pump more quarters into these 8-bit graphic games than you could even imagine. We would usually grab a slice or two of pizza and then walk until we found a group of girls we wanted to follow. Now, to those out there who have never seen a pack of hungry wolves that were too timid and scared to hunt, I could not imagine what we looked like following girls who probably didn't know we existed. Now will all due respect, there was no element of surprise, they could smell us coming from about 2 miles away. "Oh my Gawd Becky,...is that POLO cologne!? OH GAG!! Did somebody BATHE in it?" I do digress. We would walk the mall, follow girls and sometimes try to see if we were being followed. This usually ended as the following: "Hey,I think they are following us."...NO way ! "Yeah, I am serious!"..."Man we better go to the front..My mom is going to meet us at 9:00. Yeah we better get going..." Man, we were so IN...if we only had more time... YEAAAAAAAAAH RIGHT!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA Well I hope you found my days of embarrassing girl chasing in my pre teen days a good chuckle. I would be interested in hearing your point of view. Take care! SuperDave71

(Ya know, I should have stuck with her, but her name freaked me out...), well, I took her to a school football game, (sport and big spender that I was)... We got bored after the first inning, or quarter, or whatever they have in that stupid game... Anyway, our car was dripping with condensation... if you know what I mean... Thx. |

Sending notes = sending them secret texts in class/at work Wear their jacket = put a special ring tone for them on your phone and add a photo of you as a couple as the background on your phone Also things people do now: Facebook & MSN: • Add their partner and then kick/block them when they break up and immediately change their status to single • Constantly check on the status and whereabouts of their partner using them • Try to make someone jealous using these Oh the wonders of modern technology… ![]()
