So I did a little research (asked my annoyingly happily married friends), and this is what I've come up with. Of course, they all sort of said the same thing, so I only came up with six. Six Ways To Find Your Soulmate : 1. Look for someone you would want as your best friend, regardless of whether you are attracted to them or not. 2. Look for someone who shares your interest in certain things. Hang out at your favorite places more and join a group who shares your interest. You never know who you might meet. 3. Focus on finding someone who wants the kind of life YOU want, instead of changing what you want in order to attract someone your ego thinks would make a great husband. (Boy, did that one hit below the belt) 4. Consider the possibility that you don't know the difference between what you want, and what's good for you. 5. Don't marry the person who makes you cry. Marry the person whose shoulder you cry on. 6. Think of an object (person or thing) that is most precious to you in this world. Ask yourself if you would trust him or her to take care of it for a week. If the answer is yes, don't let them go. Anybody have any more ? :chocolate:

I think so many people go into a relationship thinking they can change something about someone or change themself to be what the other person wants. When you find someone that you don't want to change in any way and someone that you don't feel you have to change for - well then that is someone to hold onto. To add to this list: Look for someone that does not take you for granted and always shows you respect. Look for someone that is willing to openly communicate with you. |
